The vines can grow quite long, making it an excellent choice for hanging baskets or as a cascading plant on shelves or bookcases. - Lighting: Hawaiian Pothos thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions as well. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. A spot near a north or east-facing window is ideal.
- Temperature: Pothos prefers temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). It can tolerate slightly cooler temperatures but should be protected from drafts and cold air.
- Watering: Water your Hawaiian Pothos thoroughly when the top inch of the soil feels dry. Ensure that the pot has proper drainage to prevent waterlogging, as Pothos is susceptible to root rot. It's better to underwater than overwater, as the plant is quite forgiving and can tolerate periods of drought.
- Humidity: Pothos appreciates moderate to high humidity levels, which mimic its natural tropical habitat. You can increase humidity by placing the plant on a pebble tray filled with water or using a room humidifier.
- Fertilization: Feed your Hawaiian Pothos with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Dilute the fertilizer to half the recommended strength to avoid overfeeding, which can lead to leaf burn.
- Pruning: Regularly trim your Pothos to maintain its shape and encourage bushier growth. You can trim back any leggy or overgrown vines, and propagate the cuttings to create new plants.
